Proof that Singapore is a 'food capital': Odette restaurant is No 18 globally

Singapore'due south Odette restaurant leapfrogged into the Meridian twenty of the Earth'southward l Best Restaurants at the ceremony held at the Marina Bay Sands' Sands Theatre on Tuesday night (Jun 25).

After a change in the rules earlier this year, restaurants that previously topped the poll will no longer be eligible for the annual ranking. Past winners, including Osteria Francescana, joined a newly created "All-time of the All-time" category.

Rene Redzepi's re-opened Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark, debuted on the 2022 listing at No two. In its previous incarnation, Noma won the top title in 2010, 2011, 2022 and 2014.

Spain dominated the Top x list with three restaurants. Asador Etxebarri in Axpe was ranked No iii for showing off simple ingredients by grilling them, while Mugaritz was 7th and Disfrutar came ninth.

Some other Copenhagen eatery, Geranium, was fifth on the list, while Paris's Arpege, where vegetables take centrestage, was No 8.

Peru, which has emerged in recent years every bit a top culinary destination, featured twice in the Top ten: Lima's Key remained 6th, while Japanese-Peruvian fusion outlet Maido, with its fifty-hour-cooked beef short rib, was No 10.

TRIBUTE TO ANTHONY BOURDAIN
